“May the LORD smile on you and be gracious to you.” (Numbers 6:25, NLT)
Have you ever felt like God was smiling down at you? Perhaps during a spectacular sunset or listening to the contagious giggle of a baby. Today, I experienced another aspect of God’s face. God winked at me.
In today’s prayer journal I wrote: “Lord, your visible hand was seen all over the place in my life leading up to the conference. Doubt is creeping in. Would you please give me a glimpse— a God wink today?”
“I have found Cloud Nine, it resides at Ridgecrest.” Those were the words I penned in my journal the day I was asked to write for the website www.Inspireafire.com. Today, I read Day 118 from Jesus Today. In today’s entry author Sara Young explained:
“The mountain you are climbing is exceedingly high; the top of it is hidden in clouds. So it’s impossible for you to know how far up those heights you have come—and how far you have yet to go. However, the higher you go, the better the view you have.”
I immediately recognized the cloud reference as a God wink.
I continued reading the scriptures that accompanied today’s devotion. This verse grabbed my attention: “The LORD God is my strength— he will make my feet like those of a deer, equipping me to tread on my mountain heights” (Habakkuk 3:19, ISV).
God winked again. Habakkuk 3:19 and the word equip was the verse prayed over me on New Year’s Day 2015 by fellow writer and friend Robin Marshall.
After refilling my coffee, I returned to my red chair and was captivated by the image before me. I quickly snapped a photograph and tried for a second snapshot, but the sun had shifted and the image vanished.
God winked a third time. Mesmerized, my eyes darted from the floor to the camera and back to my prayer journal where earlier I asked God to give me a glimpse— a wink.
The sixth definition by Merriam-Webster is astounding: “Wink: to signal a message with a light.” http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/wink
Have you experienced a situation where you felt God smiling down on you, perhaps even a God wink? If so, I’d love to hear about it. Please respond below.
